I DID IT! My first Podcast!

I have done it! I recorded my first podcast all about my start as a quilter. Those of you who know me are aware of my complete lack of artistic ability. Jumping into quilting was a complete change for me. I think many of my friends are a little stunned at the fact that I am now a quilter. I know there is part of me that is stunned that I have fallen in love with quilting.

So, my first podcast is how this new hobby started. Please check it out!
Hopefully, it will be up on iTunes soon.

  1. Hi Kate, I just listened to your podcast and really enjoyed it! Kudos to you for starting one - come join us on the Quiltcast Supergroup on Big Tent. Other quilting podcasters (like myself) post there and I think you'lll enjoy the community of other quilters/podcasters. https://www.bigtent.com/groups/quiltsuper

I am also a working mom, and have 2 girls (4 yrs and 9 weeks). I've been quilting for many years now, but really enjoyed hearing your story of jumping in to quilting and the enthusiasm you have for it will allow you to grow even more as you learn and make more quilts! If you get a chance, please check out my podcast (Crafty Garden Mom) on iTunes, and/or my blog at http://craftygardenmom.blogspot.com Would love to grow my network of fellow quilting/working moms! Also, on the BigTent forum you may be introduced to other quilting podcasts you weren't aware of yet, there are some really good ones. Take care, and keep up the great work!

  2. You did a great job! I enjoyed listening. Please feel free to email me any questions you may have about quilting. I know you probably hear that alot but I really do mean it. We need a good support team when learning to quilt and since you don't have the time to join a guild feel free to contact me when ever you like. Thank you for sharing your story.

  3. Thank you so much for all of your kind comments! I really appreciate it. It is so much fun to share my experiences with my fellow quilters.

Tanisha - I love how knowledgeable you are on so many things! Your explanation of Red Work was so cool! I wish that they still had those fabric squares for a penny. They sound like a lot of fun. I have never done ANY crafting before I started quilting...except for a brief exploration in glass mosaics. However, that died when my first daughter came along. Glass beads and pieces do not belong in a house with a little baby. LOL. I am super excited to learn more from your podcasts.

Quilter in the Gap - Thank you SO much! I will totally ask questions because I am LOST half the time on so many things. I watch TONS of YouTube Videos on how to do things. I am also going to be taking the online course with Jenny Doan. Just got a 40% off coupon for that. Woohoo! I love the Missouri Star Quilt Company. I would love your help. I have a problem right now with quilting my little girl's pink/brown quilt. I am using my walking foot but my bobbin thread keeps breaking. I am using the thin bobbin thread because I don't want it to be too obvious. What kind of thread do you use in your bobbin? I have been using white thread on top, but I was wondering if I should be using a pink thread. What do you think?

Thank you so much for your comments!!
