Podcast 4 - nothing to fear but...

In this podcast, I explain how I listened to a podcast from Quilting...for the Rest of Us that focused on Do-overs. The biggest issue that people had was being afraid to do something or make mistakes. I realized that I was the same. In this podcast, I explain where my fear comes from and how I hope to overcome it. I also talk about my progress and how I have many different projects going at once...and that is OK...because it is my hobby! Hehehehe. Thank you for joining me, in my quilting daydreams!

  1. Hi Katie,

I am enjoying your adventure :)

I was really interested in your comment about telling your children that they must have really tried hard and not comment that they were smart. It turns out I was in San Antonio this week for a conference and one of the keynoters, Jonah Lehrer, talked about Carol Dweck and it sounded exactly like what you were talking about.

Just FYI, Jonah was a great story teller. I picked up a couple of his books: Proust was a Neuroscientist and How We Decide.

  2. Exactly! The training I received as a teacher was around "MIndset- the new psychology of success" and how that relates to how we comment on student work. I am trying to apply that to the praise that I give my babies. How cool to hear them speak on this! It is such a powerful concept.
